Excursion to Saona Island

Located to the south of Punta Cana, a couple of kilometers from the coast of the peninsula that forms the Cotubanamá National Park (formerly the Eastern National Park), Isla Saona is practically uninhabited and, nevertheless, it is one of the most visited places in Dominican Republic.

Its incredible virgin nature and the excellent atmosphere that is experienced in the excursions that tour the island daily, make this place one of the most requested by tourists who enjoy their vacations in this area of the Caribbean Sea.

You can do the excursion on a large catamaran or small speedboats. Saona Island has beautiful beaches, jungle, mangroves and some towns inhabited by fishermen.

The most beautiful parts of the island are far from the most touristy area.

The boats all arrive at the same beach, where people bathe and there are some restaurants. However, if you like adventure, take provisions for a couple of days and go into the jungle in search of uninhabited areas.

The coral formations found in its waters or the fact that the island is the most important nesting place for turtles in the country are just a couple of examples of Saona''s natural wealth.

Under the waters that surround Isla Saona, life is an explosion of colors. From the different varieties of turtles that nest on its beaches, we must add dolphins, manatees and countless fish and mollusks.

The ecological value of Isla Saona is, at first glance, incalculable.
